Traditional Chinese Medicine Herbs

The supplier is a 65 year old company with a good reputation.  The sources of their herbs are varied and so we need time to determine if the herbs are naturally and sustainably grown. The quality of the herbs are definitely above average.
 
In my preliminary screening, I used 3 criteria to determine 
if the herbs have zero or minimal chemical pesticides and preservatives:

1)  Short shelf life of 9 months. Supplier recommended to refrigerate herbs to maintain freshness. 

2) Bugs eat them - I kept a packet of mixed herbs in my storeroom, without refrigeration for 2 months.  
I found tiny bugs!  Definitely no or little pesticides! 

3) The herbs complies with AVA standards of safety and hygiene.
 
The quality of our select herbs is definitely superior than those found in the supermarkets.  The latter are usually treated with intense heat to lengthen shelf life, thus destroying some of the nutrients.
